Our client is a well-established retail organization in Canada. Responsibilities : 

  • Process the company's payroll on a bi-weekly basis using the company's internal payroll program. 
  • Process timesheets by entering hours into the system 
  • Process pay rates, hires, changes and terminations in the payroll system 
  • Remit payroll deductions 
  • Transmit payroll every two weeks 
  • Issue pay cheques for employees without direct deposit 
  • File government forms as required, including T4s and ROEs 
  • Manage group benefits, including enrollments and terminations 
  • Pay group health insurance premiums monthly 
  • Maintain detailed records of employee payroll documents 
  • Verify accuracy of all entries 
  • Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries 
  • Perform various other administrative tasks as required

Skills and qualifications :

  • Microsoft Excel 
  • Proven experience as a payroll clerk 
  • 3 years' proven experience in payroll processing for Quebec-based employees is required 
  • Experience in payroll processing for employees in the Atlantic Provinces is an asset 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Canadian payroll certification and/or membership in the National Payroll Institute (Canadian Payroll Association) required 
  • Some experience in payroll processing for retail workers is an asset
  • The position is 100% face-to-face
