Job description :

Our client, a not-for-profit organisation working to combat domestic violence by offering 24-hour accommodation to women and their children, is looking for a Director for a shelter.  

The director will need to have knowledge of non-profit organisations, a proven track record in advocacy, and leadership and organisational skills. 

He must also be able to apply fundraising and networking techniques for the organisation. 

• Represent the organisation in dealings with community and public bodies, funders and the media; 
• Helping to raise the profile of the organisation in the community by establishing links and promoting it to the stakeholders who support its development. 

Skills and qualifications :

• 1st or 2nd cycle university degree in social work, human sciences, administration or equivalent combination of experience and training;  
• 4 to 5 years' experience in organisational management; 
• Bilingual in French and English; 
• Ability to manage and communicate with ease, build relationships, open-mindedness, tolerance, dynamism and interpersonal skills; 
• Sense of responsibility, professionalism and discretion; 
• Experience in team management; 
• Inspirational leadership; 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; 
• Thoroughness and adaptability; 
• Exceptional organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, priorities, projects, crises and progress monitoring; 
• Ability to assess issues, find solutions and resolve problems; 
• Commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression, with experience of applying this to marginalised or vulnerable teams and groups of service users; 
• Adherence to a feminist philosophy.
