Job description :

We are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner for our client, which specialises in the automotive sector.

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Capital, and working closely with the Vice Presidents, the candidate will play a key role in the success of our many automotive dealerships. The Business Partner, Human Resources will provide strategic direction and comprehensive support for all human resources activities to designated dealership managers.  

He will develop and implement various initiatives supporting the group's HR strategy by working closely with the HR team and management. 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate in the implementation and execution of various HR projects: performance management, succession management, induction and integration, engagement surveys, etc. 
  • Encourage the mobilisation and commitment of teams by promoting a proactive approach to resolving work-related issues. 
  • Act proactively to prevent conflicts and disputes. Suggest improvements to existing mechanisms. 
  • Providing advice on the interpretation of personnel policies. 
  • Coordinate disability files with the Head of Pay and Benefits. 
  • Work in partnership with managers on training initiatives designed to assist employee development. 
  • Support Vice-Presidents in succession planning and talent acceleration programmes.
  • Assist managers in the talent acquisition process for executive positions (interview and psychometric testing). 
  • In collaboration with the Health and Safety Committee, recommend and determine appropriate initiatives, and ensure compliance with government and regulatory requirements. 
  • Visits dealerships, meets with employees, Executive Vice Presidents and Directors and follows up on current issues. 
  • Contribute to the communication of HR changes within the company in close collaboration with the Communications, Marketing and Partnerships team. 
  • Manage the performance management and objective setting process and provide advice to managers. 
  • Mentor and provide assistance to managers on employee relations and organisational policies. 
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws (Pay Equity Act, Labour Standards Act, etc.). 
  • Participate in weekly HR meetings. 
  • Carry out all other HR management responsibilities. 

Skills and qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial relations or human resources management. 
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years' relevant experience. 
  • Experience in a unionized environment and in the manufacturing sector. 
  • Excellent knowledge of the Office suite and Google. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and excellent listening skills. Bilingualism is an asset. 
  • Membership of the Ordre des CRHA is an asset. 
  • Ability to interact with and influence managers at various levels. 
  • Strong ability to build positive and trusting relationships. 
  • Ability to adapt to frequent travel to dealerships. 
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail. 
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion. 
  • Excellent team spirit.
